1. Interest Rates are Rising

After years of historic lows, interest rates are edging up. This started late last year when the Federal Reserve increased its benchmark interest rate by a quarter point in December, and again in March. Experts are expecting three more upward adjustments during 2017. (Buyers should remember this is a projection, not a promise.)

The fact remains that interest rates were lower a year ago, and that the trend of increasing interest rates is expected to continue. In fact, current homeowners with an adjustable rate mortgage may want to consider securing a fixed rate loan before rates increase further.

Call Sammy Agent: 512-345-xxxx

The cabin was small and it needed some work. But it did have a dock on Lake Austin and the seller was including a ski-boat in the $48,000 price!

Even 20 years ago, lots on Lake…

What to know about the home inspection

Buying a home can be scary, especially if it will be your first home. But even if it is your fourth, fifth, or sixth home, there are still dangers and pitfalls that you need to consider.  One of the primary concerns of any buyer is, "is there something wrong with the house that I do not know about?"

That question is best answered by having a complete and thorough inspection of the home by a state licensed home inspector. In Texas, home inspectors are regulated by the Texas Real Estate Commission. They must meet state standards for training and inspections have a standardized reporting procedure.

Typically when you make an offer, the offer will include an option period during which the seller agrees that you can have a licensed inspector examine

Thinking about selling

These questions will help you decide whether you’re ready for a home that’s larger or in a more desirable location. If you answer yes to most of the questions, you may be ready to move.

Have you built substantial equity in your current home?
Check your annual mortgage statement or call your lender to find out how much you’ve paid down. Has your income or financial situation changed?
If you’re making more money, you may be able to afford higher mortgage payments and cover the costs of moving. If your income has decreased, you may want to…
